INSPIRATIONAL STORY OF MEERAB

Meerab: Inspirational story

On social media, you will have thousands of inspirational stories of brave women, smashing the glass ceiling abound. Meerab, a Pakistani fashion designing student, is one of these inspiring individuals who defied the odds and became an example to thousands of underprivileged females in her country.

The story of Merab became viral on social media when a girl named Asma Yusuf shared her story on her social media account:

"Today, I ordered KFC in Lahore and received a call from a female saying, "Hello, I am your rider speaking." I got so excited that I stood outside the gate to receive her and we spoke for a good 10 minutes about many things, including her pursuits, passion, and bike riding skills.

Meet Merab from Youhanabad, Lahore. She is pursuing an undergraduate degree in Fashion Designing and does her night duty as a KFC rider to cover her fees. She intends to remain a rider for another 3 years until she graduates post which she plans to launch her own fashion brand!

More power to her! May we see more Pakistani girls riding off to adventures in their heart’s desire!

Thank you, KFC Pakistan!"

In a nation where girls are not protected in daylight, you need the courage and daring to work as a female delivery driver, especially at night. Thousands of social media users, especially girls, encouraged her because of her bravery and wished her safety, a better future, and more power.

In Pakistani patriarchal society, being a girl is not always a piece of cake. Women have limited access to their fundamental rights because of the pervasiveness of gender stereotypes and gender-based discrimination. The progress of women and girls continues to be constrained by discriminatory norms and sexist attitudes and biases, which range from cultural norms to religious practices, and elevating oneself in such a society as an inspiration for others requires considerable bravery.

More power to Meerab and our country Pakistan needs more people like your drive and determination. I wish you a happy and prosperous future.

“If your actions create a legacy that inspires others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, then you are an excellent leader.”
